## About the Role AVNIK Defense Solutions is seeking an entry‑level Data Scientist / Python Software Developer to support U.S. Government Modeling & Simulation (M&S) tools for sustainment engineering. The role is on‑site at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, and is open only to U.S. citizens who can obtain a SECRET security clearance. ## Responsibilities - Interface with customers to define M&S requirements and develop software pipelines. - Produce charts, graphs, and technical reports for leadership and customers. - Perform data extraction, cleaning, and analysis on large, complex datasets using Python and SQL. - Debug and resolve technical M&S issues, manage multiple project tasks, and meet delivery schedules. - Present briefings on analysis results, schedules, and goals to multidisciplinary teams. ## Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent HS + 4 years experience). - Advanced Python development skills (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, SciPy, SQLite3, OOP). - Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and within multi‑disciplinary teams. - Experience with SQL queries and Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis. - Familiarity with statistical methods (linear regression, confidence intervals) and M&S theory (stochastic, deterministic, Monte Carlo, heuristic, discrete‑event). - Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. ## Desired Skills & Benefits - Experience with IDEs such as VS Code and MBSE tools (Magic Draw, Cameo). - Ability to produce technical reports and customer briefings. - Competitive salary/benefits package, quality‑of‑life focus, and a collaborative, fast‑paced engineering environment. - Opportunity for professional growth within the aerospace and defense sector.
