Associate, Software Engineer

## About the role Vestwell is a fast‑growing fintech that powers the new savings economy, serving over 350,000 businesses and 2 M+ active savers. The Associate Software Engineer will join the Engineering team in Austin, working on a real‑world 401(k) platform. This is a hybrid role that blends mentorship with hands‑on development of user‑facing web applications. ## What you'll do - Build and update React/TypeScript UI components for Vestwell’s web portal. - Write and maintain unit tests using Jest and React Testing Library, including API mocks with MSW. - Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineers to translate specs and mockups into working features. - Follow the team’s Git/GitHub workflow: create branches, submit PRs, respond to review feedback, and ship incremental releases. - Participate in Agile ceremonies and learn the company’s stack, coding standards, and best practices. ## Required qualifications - Comfortable writing TypeScript and React (classwork, bootcamp, personal projects, or 0–2 years of professional experience). - Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and a willingness to adopt an existing component library and design system. - Experience (or strong desire) writing tests with Jest/React Testing Library. - Proficient with Git for everyday development tasks. - Strong communication skills, ability to ask for help, and openness to feedback. ## Benefits - Competitive base salary ($95K‑$110K) with bonus pool eligibility and new‑hire equity. - Comprehensive health benefits, generous time‑off, and a dedicated Employee Wellbeing Committee. - Hybrid work model with access to collaborative offices in Austin, Midtown Manhattan, King of Prussia, and Scottsdale. - 401(k) plan and other retirement‑focused perks. - Transparent interview process and clear communication throughout.
