## About the Role Synchrony’s Credit team is looking for an API Engineer I to design, develop, and maintain micro‑service APIs that power credit decisioning across the customer lifecycle. You will work in a cross‑shore agile team, partner with universities on innovation events, and contribute to hack‑athons while helping shape the future of financial technology. ## Key Responsibilities - Participate in a cross‑shore development team and Agile scrums. - Design, build, and evolve REST and SOAP web services. - Influence API design standards and improve system performance. - Identify automation opportunities and contribute to continuous‑integration pipelines. - Collaborate with product, data, and fraud teams to deliver credit‑related solutions. ## Required Skills & Knowledge - Minimum 1+ year of hands‑on Java development experience. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical communication skills. - Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts. - Familiarity with JSON, XML, and web‑service protocols (REST, SOAP). ## Desired Characteristics - Experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks. - Proficiency with Git, Bitbucket, and Jira. - Knowledge of CI/CD environments and writing unit/integration tests. - Ability to work in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization and influence cross‑functional teams. - Interest in AI developer tools such as GitHub Copilot. ## Qualifications & Work Timings - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). - Work window: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM IST, aligning with US Eastern hours for meetings; remaining hours flexible. - Remote‑first flexibility with occasional on‑site meetings for team events.
