## About the role UST is seeking a **Java Backend Developer** to join its engineering team in Thiruvananthapuram. You will work on building scalable backend services, collaborating closely with product owners and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions. ## What you'll do - Gather and clarify business requirements with the Product Owner. - Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and sprint planning. - Design, develop, and maintain micro‑service based applications using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs. - Integrate with relational (Oracle) and NoSQL databases, and deploy services on AWS or GCP. - Mentor junior engineers, enforce best practices, and contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies. ## Required qualifications - **4+ years** of professional software development experience. - Strong hands‑on expertise in **Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot**, and **Microservices architecture**. - Proficiency with **RESTful APIs**, **Oracle DB**, **NoSQL databases**, **Git**, **Maven/Gradle**, and **Jenkins/CI‑CD** pipelines. - Good understanding of OOP, design patterns, and testing tools such as **Postman**. - Experience with cloud platforms (**AWS** or **GCP**) and IDEs like **Eclipse** or **IntelliJ IDEA**. ## Benefits & culture UST promotes a values‑driven culture emphasizing humility, humanity, and integrity.
