## About the Role AMD is looking for an AI Applications Engineer to join the Wired and Wireless Business Team within the Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group. This early‑career position sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, FPGA/SoC design, embedded systems, and AI infrastructure security. You will work on accelerating development, verification, and optimization of FPGA‑based reference designs using AMD Vivado™ and Vitis™ tool flows while contributing to strategic initiatives around AI model customization and secure AI inference deployments. ## Key Responsibilities - Develop AI‑assisted workflows that speed up creation, validation, and optimization of FPGA and SoC reference designs. - Apply AI techniques to improve engineering productivity throughout design and verification. - Fine‑tune, evaluate, and optimize open‑source AI models for edge, embedded, and security‑focused applications. - Implement and benchmark AI inference solutions on FPGA SoCs, NPUs, and GPUs, balancing performance, latency, power, and resource usage. - Research and prototype security solutions for AI infrastructure in enterprise environments. - Contribute to open‑source and industry communities, and produce technical content, benchmarks, and proof‑of‑concepts. - Collaborate with product management, field teams, and customers through presentations and knowledge‑sharing. ## Preferred Experience & Skills - Hands‑on experience with AI/ML engineering, model training, fine‑tuning, quantization, and evaluation. - Strong foundation in machine learning fundamentals, neural networks, optimization, probability, and statistics. - Proficiency in Python or C/C++, Linux development environments, and Git version control. - Familiarity with FPGA design methodologies, RTL development (Verilog/VHDL), High‑Level Synthesis (HLS), and embedded systems. - Exposure to edge AI deployment, AI model optimization, AI infrastructure security, or hardware‑accelerated computing is a plus. - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field. ## Benefits & Work Environment AMD offers a hybrid work environment based in San Jose, CA, with approximately 10 % travel for conferences and customer engagements.
